Ever since a devastating nuclear war, humanity has lived on spaceships far above Earth's radioactive surface. Now, one hundred juvenile delinquents - considered expendable by society - are being sent on a dangerous mission: to re-colonize the planet. It could be their second chance at life...or it could be a suicide mission.
CLARKE was arrested for treason, though she's haunted by the memory of what she really did. WELLS, the chancellor's son, came to Earth for the girl he loves - but will she ever forgive him Reckless BELLAMY fought his way onto the transport pod to protect his sister, the other half of the only siblings in the universe. And GLASS managed to escape back onto the ship, only to find that life there is just as dangerous as she feared it would be on Earth.
Confronted with a savage land and haunted by secrets from their pasts, the hundred must fight to survive. They were never meant to be heroes, but they may be mankind's last hope.
So I loved the concept about this book, how Earth has been uninhabitable because of the Radiation, and I also loved the plot and how they sent the teenage delinquents down to Earth from their space station giving it the "wow" factor that I like in books. But. I think the Author took it in a different path than what it needed to actually go in, it left me wanting....
More, More and MORE!!
With the Four main characters all having their own POVS was really great... If the book was actually 100-200 pages longer!
I feel as if I didn't get to relate fully with the characters even though in each chapter there was a flashback (Which I really liked) I still felt as if they didn't have a complete set personality. Except for Bellamy, who we got to know his twisted path and how his mood set and vision on what was most important stayed consistent the whole way through.
This was labeled Scifi... Not Romance.
Now don't get me wrong I love Romance in everything and I found Clarke and Bellamy's kiss extremely cute but I'd rather see the Romance actually start like with the two of them, Because we never got to actually see the extent of what Clarke and Well's relationship was before they came to the ground.
I mean we know they dated and he loves her but betrayed her... Blah, Blah, Blah but I would've liked to see more of them in the flashbacks.
More in depth.
I was happy to see Bellamy's and Clarke's relationship grow through the book though. But I respect Bellamy and the way he would do anything for his sister before his little crush on the strawberry blonde girl (Clarke)
But I started to see a pattern in how the four characters romance played out.
Glass was confined for being Pregnant with Luke's baby so when she escaped he was with his best friend Camille.
And when Well's finally reunited with Clarke after purposely getting confined to protect her down on Earth (Even though she hated him for getting her parents killed) She was happily making out with Bellamy in the woods.
Similarities? I think yes!
But I must say I was hoping for more Earth exploration and more fighting against each-other saying they are all delinquents, but instead the Romance over-ruled.
I did really like this book though, well described, amazing characters and visions and I Particularly liked the parts where it was a lot of "Holy Shit!" but then turned into Romance, those bits were great.
I mean whats a book without a bit of Romance.
I recommend reading and also watching the show (Which I probably enjoyed more than the book itself)
Overall this is actually a pretty amazing book and I'm really addicted to the show so the book was high enjoyable.
3/5 - 5
